Facilitating Learning™: Course Content (PART I)
Facilitating Learning teaches advanced audience involvement and presentation techniques; dealing with different audience types and challenges, polishing presentation skills; structuring a presentation; and the experiential learning cycle to design interactive adult learning.
This two-day workshop typically includes the following modules.
Module 1: Welcome and Introduction to Facilitating Learning
Module 2: Introductions and Objectives with Feedback from Facilitator
- Participant introductions with feedback and optional DVD recording for small groups
Module 3: Setting the Stage for Learning to Prepare and Anticipate Needs
- Setting the stage, establishing the agenda and using handouts effectively
Module 4: Experiential Learning Cycle to Design Interactive Learning
- Understanding how adults learn and designing experiential learning
Module 5: Learning Styles and Patterns to Understand Your Audience
- Knowing how to engage all learning styles and communication patterns and preferences
Module 6: Managing Different Participant Types to Deal with All Types of Learners
- Dealing with challenging learners including the nitpicker, the talker and the disinterested
Module 7: Facilitating Challenges to Create an Effective and Flexible Learning Community
- Getting the group to interact, leading group discussions,staying focused, giving clear instructions, handling tough questions and using time management
Module 8: Controlling Your Environment to Manage the Distractions
- Making the right decisions for room set-up and using the technology and tools
Module 9: Designing Interactive Learning to Engage Learners and Get Results
- Designing balanced learning using a variety of facilitation strategies including group discussions, games and quizzes, role playing, group activities and energizers
